The Animanicast- An Animaniacs Podcast

The Animanicast is a podcast dedicated to the classic animated television series "Animaniacs." Join your hosts Joey, Nathan and Kelly as they revisit each episode in the order in which they were released. They'll discuss their favorite moments, jokes, characters as well as their memories of first watching the episode. The show's pop cultural references are also discussed and explored in detail. (You might just learn some cool facts!) In the end, each episode receives a "Water Tower Rating" from the hosts. So cue up an episode of Animaniacs on Hulu or on DVD and then listen to the Animanicast to keep the fun going!

The Warners' 65th Anniversary Special

The Warners are honored in an awards ceremony. Their history and origins are explored further and celebrities of the past and present discuss their run ins with the trio. Meanwhile, a mysterious hooded figure plots revenge on the Warners!

The hosts discuss some of their favorite moments and gags in this incredibly detailed episode. References to previous episodes of the series are also revealed. There's honestly so much to discuss, that they can't discuss it all. What are some of your favorite moments? Email us and let us know!

Today's episode features another discussion with Senior Producer and creator of Animaniacs, Tom Ruegger with more auditions for the show and a discussion on how the show was animated by different studios.

Letters from Spielberg

Tom shares two letters that were written to him by Steven Spielberg. One of them was written before the show premiered, and the other was written during the first season after the first season premiered.

Animaniacs Auditions

Tom shares more Animaniacs audition audio including audtions for Minerva Mink, Newt, Yakko, Dr. Scratchansniff, the Goodfeathers, Dot, Rita and Runt, and Dot! Severeal voice actors can be heard in these tapes, including Tress MacNielle, Rob Paulsen, Maurice LaMarche, Frank Welker, and Joe Alaskey.

Animation Discussion

Tom shares discusses the animation process Animaniacs had. Starting from the writing process, storyboarding, and working with the various animation companies that helped bring Animaniacs to life. Tom shares how StarToons was selected after first being initially rejected for the show. The strengths of each studio are discussed and how they were selected to animate certain characters.

Q and A

Tom answers a few questions from the audience including "Who came up with the idea for a Warner Bros. Store tour with the voice actors?" and "Which was the best and worst episode(s) to work on?"

Randy Rogel Panel

Joey shares some audio from Randy Rogel's panel from Tucson Comic Con. Members of the audience asked Mr. Rogel questions and learned about his background in composing songs and writing cartoons.

Animaniacs Live

Joey shares his experience and some audio highlights of "Animaniacs Live" from the Rialto Theater in Tucson, Arizona. The full show of  "Animaniacs Live" lasted approximately  two hours and included a Q and A encore. Some selected songs and questions are played. Joey was able to ask Rob about his new position as voice director for the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Rob didn't seek out the job as voice director, but was instead approached by the creators of the show to take on the new job. He shares his experience with the new cast finding out that he provided the voices of so many of their favorite cartoon characters.

Boy oh boy, there is a lot of filler in this episode and the hosts discuss it all. Randy Beaman segments, Newsreel of the Stars, Dot's Poetry Corner, the Wheel of Morality, and more!

Lookit the Fuzzy Heads

Dr. Scratchansniff invites Elmyra Duff from "Tiny Toon Adventures" into the Warners' therapy session! Elmyra quickly chases after the trio, following them into their water tower, a movie theater, and throughout Burbank. They eventually get rid of her by having her take over Button's job of chasing after Mindy.

This episode features brings up a discussion of "Jurassic Park" and "Petticoat Junction" which are both referenced in this cartoon.

No Face Like Home

Slappy decides to get plastic surgery to compete with all the young cartoon actresses. Walter Wolf sneaks into the operating room and tries to mangle her face but Slappy ends up switching places with Walter and he ends up looking like a Hello Nurse!

This cartoon comments on the "edutainment" cartoons of the 1990's and plastic surgery. The hosts talk a bit about after school specials and shows like "Captain Planet" in addition to some of their favorite moments in this very funny cartoon.
