Will Elmyra learn that friends don't have to do that, or will she steal her mother's car and drive to Utah? Find out in our discussion!

Phone Call from the 405

It's one of Kelly's favorite segments! Steven Spielberg calls Buster and Babs to tell them what they should improve in today's episode. Steven suggests new camera angles, better gags, and more shadows! This segment was actually based upon a real conversation Tom Ruegger had with Steven Spielberg. A clip from episode 63a of our show is shared so that we can hear Tom share the story once again.

Wakko's Wish Part One

The Warners are orphans in the town of Warnerstock, a town that has been taxed to the extreme by the evil King Salazar. To make things worse, Dot needs an operation and the siblings have no money! Luckily, Wakko calls upon the Wishing Star for some help. The star lands far away from the village and so the Warners must set out to touch the Wishing Star. Before they leave however, they tell the townsfolk, and a mad rush to be the first to touch the Wishing Star ensues. Unfortunately the evil King Salazar finds out as well and seeks to eliminate the Warners before they get to the star.

There's lots of jokes, songs and character cameos to cover in this movie. So many, in fact,  that this podcast episode will only cover the first half of the movie!

Each week, Joey, Nathan and Kelly revisit an episode of Animaniacs in the order in which they first premiered. Today the creator of Animaniacs, Tom Ruegger, joins the show once again to talk about the show and its transition to the Kids WB. Tom discusses some of the memorable episodes in the later seasons of Animaniacs and talks about some of the challenges of moving the show to the Kids' WB.

Moving to the Kids' WB

Tom talks about the challenges switching from Fox Kids to Kids WB. Animaniacs went from a show that was incredibly popular and easily accessible on Fox to a network that was only accessible to those lucky enough to have the Kids WB in their area. Tom talks about his frustrations with WB executives, how Pinky and the Brain were encouraged to be more like a sitcom, and how the executives attempted to change Animaniacs. He also shares his thoughts on some selected episodes of Animaniacs' later seasons and how it all came to a close.

Special Announcement

Soon we will be discussing "Wakko's Wish" which many (including Tom Ruegger) consider to be the 100th episode of Animaniacs. What will Joey, Nathan and Kelly discuss afterwards? Listen to find out!

Each week, Joey, Nathan and Kelly revisit an episode of Animaniacs in the order in which they first premiered. Today Joey and Nathan get together once again to talk about an Animaniacs comic book! Its issue 12 features the Warners driving beatniks insane and Pinky and the Brain meeting the "Fab Four."

Special Giveaway!

The winner of our biggest contest to date is announced! Congratulations to Kurtis Findlay who won the Goodfeathers QMx figure! There will be more contests in the future! To be eligible for future contests, make sure to leave our podcast a positive 5-star review on Apple Podcasts!

A Pinky and the Brain Movie?

Thanks to an Instagram post from George Evangelista, there's been a lot of talk (and some confusion) about a possible Pinky and the Brain movie.

The fan art by is not official and is not part of any upcoming movie. However, this post did bring up some interesting revelations from Kirk Tingblad and Russell Calabrese who directed many episodes of the Pinky and the Brain series. The two revealed on Facebook that they had pitched a live action Pinky and the Brain movie to Jean MacCurdy in the 90s. The movie would involve the two mice turning into humans (played by Maurice LaMarche and Rob Paulsen.) Nathan and Joey discuss this concept and whether or not they think it would have worked.

A Blast From Hipsville

The Warners are in San Francisco in the 1960s. The trio decides to visit a beatnik club so that Dot can recite some of her poetry. Unfortunately the beaniks find her poetry so square that they boo her off the stage. After finding out a way to make her poetry more miserable, the Warners go back so that Dot can talk about how awful life is! Yakko and Wakko soon realize that they've got to save Dot from spreading misery, after all, their contract forbids it!

The Mod Couple

The Brain comes up with a way to take over the world once again! This time, he will collect all the rubber from the world's go-go boots and create a humongous slingshot.  He will then threaten to throw the Earth into the sun if the world does not submit to his rule. The two lab mice go off to a concert with the "Fab Four" so that they can steal as many go-go boots from the women dancing. Unfortunately their machine goes haywire and the two are unable to accomplish anything other than giving the "Fab Four" inspirational lyrics for music. If you're a Beatles fan, there's lots of references to their music!

Each week, Joey, Nathan and Kelly revisit an episode of Animaniacs in the order in which they first premiered. Today Joey and Nathan get together once again to talk about an Animaniacs comic book! Its issue 11 featuring the Brain using a duplication machine and the Warners traveling to Austria to visit Castle Frankenstein!

Special Giveaway!

Do you want a Goodfeathers QFig signed by Maurice LaMarche, John Mariano, Chick Vennera, and Tom Ruegger? Then just leave a positive 5 star rating and review on Apple Podcasts or iTunes! We will select a one listener review at random at the end of January! Leave your review today and listen later on February 3rd to see if you're the winner!

Brain for Brain

The Brain is tired of Pinky messing up his plans to take over the world so he kicks Pinky out of the lab and uses a duplication ray to create a clone! But "Brain #2" doesn't want to be an assistant and steals the ray. Brain realizes he made a mistake in firing Pinky and begs him to return. Before you know it, there are hundreds of Brains in the lab and they all want Pinky for their assistant! How will Pinky and the Brain get rid of all the duplicates?

Nathan and Joey discuss their favorite moments in this very funny comic. The quality of the art and writing is quite good and the story could have even been good enough to be on TV!

Frankly Frankenstein

The Warners hitch a ride in a crate traveling to Austria and make their way to Castle Frankenstein. The only problem is, Doctor Frankenstein is actually Dr. Frankensniff and he looks a lot like an evil Dr. Scratchansniff. To make things even more confusing Igor looks like Hello Nurse and the Monster looks like Mr. Plotz!

This comic has a surprise ending that is slightly amusing, but doesn't have the gags that one would expect from a Warners cartoon.

Each week, Joey, Nathan and Kelly revisit an episode of Animaniacs in the order in which they first premiered. Today your hosts discuss episode 98 of Animaniacs which features the segments "The Christmas Tree" and "The Prom" and "Punchline."

Special Giveaway!

Do you want a Goodfeathers QFig signed by Maurice LaMarche, John Mariano, Chick Vennera, and Tom Ruegger? Then just leave a positive 5 star rating and review on Apple Podcasts or iTunes! The Christmas Tree

It's the last cartoon featuring Slappy Squirrel on Animaniacs! In this final outing, Slappy finds out that her tree has been cut down and erected in Rocky Fellow Center in New York! How will she get her tree back to the forest? There are a lot of other questions in this final Slappy cartoon. Her behavior is different than usual and her tree house is completely different! The hosts share their theories on why this might be and discuss their favorite moments in this final Slappy cartoon.

Punchline (Part One and Two)

Chicken Boo is on Punchline as a guest commentator. The question to the panel is "Why did the chicken cross the road?" Luckily there are other Animaniacs characters who have theories including Pinky and the Brain and the Goodfeathers. The Brain has some pretty far out theories while Pinky can see that Chicken Boo is a chicken in disguise. Does this prove the theory that Pinky is the genius and the Brain is insane?

The Prom

It's the final Katie Ka-Boom cartoon and the first and last time that her father stands up to her monster alter-ego. Was this Katie Ka-Boom cartoon funnier than previous episodes, or a dud?

The Carpool

The Warners get picked up from their water tower and join a carpool of employees on their way to work. The trio of siblings proceed to annoy the adults in the car, especially the grumpy character named Ed. This cartoon has it all! Insane seat belt use, distracted drivers, annoyed passengers, and even a carsick Wakko!

The Sunshine Squirrels

In a parody of Neil Simon's "The Sunshine Boys," Slappy finds herself reunited with Suzy Squirrel voiced by Phyllis Diller! Today we have an incredibly special episode with a reunion of the voice actors behind the Goodfeathers! Maurice LaMarche, John Mariano and Chick Vennera sit down with Tom Ruegger for the first time in over 20 years!

Goodfeathers Reunion

Maurice, John, Chick and Tom discuss some of the things that made the Goodfeathers cartoons so special. Learn about their influences and some little known facts about the characters, (for example, Chick Vennera voiced the Godpigeon, not Maurice LaMarche as many online sources have stated.) You'll also get to hear Pesto, Squit, Bobby, and the Godpigeon answer some questions! It's an exclusive event that you'll only hear on the Animanicast!

Each week, Joey, Nathan and Kelly revisit an episode of Animaniacs in the order in which they first premiered. They discuss their favorite jokes, gags, and discuss all the cultural references they can find. Today your hosts discuss an Animaniacs hip-hop musical originally released in 1995 as a read-along book based upon "A Christmas Plotz."

Preview for Next Week

Before getting into the discussion of today’s album the hosts take some time to discuss next week's episode! Last week Joey drove to Los Angeles to reunite the cast of the Goodfeathers at Tom Ruegger’s house! That's right, next week you'll get to hear Chick Vennera, John Mariano and Maurice LaMarche along with Animaniacs creator, Tom Ruegger! This was the first time they had all been together in over 20 years! It's going to be an episode you won't want to miss, so subscribe to our podcast so you don't miss it!

A Christmas Plotz Hip-Hopera Musical

Produced in part by rapper Kool Moe Dee, this is an album that was originally released on a cassette tape with a read-along book. Later, it was re-released on CD with the CD booklet taking the place of the book. The short album features the original Animaniacs cast “rapping” the storyline of “A Christmas Plotz.” The catchy songs by Randy Rogel are gone. In their place are some moody rap songs that don't always fit the Christmas spirit. The hosts discuss some of the main songs and some samples are played. Overall it's a pretty bad album. But how bad is it? Well, you'll just have to listen to find out!

What do you think? Was this album as bad as we thought or did you like what you head? Let us know by emailing us at animanicast@gmail.com.

Each week, Joey, Nathan and Kelly revisit an episode of Animaniacs in the order in which they first premiered. They discuss their favorite jokes, gags, and discuss all the cultural references they can find. Today, Joey and Nathan discuss another issue of the classic "Animaniacs" comic series. Will the two actually learn some things from reading this comic?

Special Announcement!

We will be interviewing voice actors Maurice LaMarche, John Mariano, Chick Venerra, and Animaniacs creator Tom Ruegger for a Goodfeathers reunion! Have a question to ask? Make sure to send it to us via email, Facebook, Twitter, or Discord ASAP!

A Comic Book is Born

Dr. Scratchansniff is interrupted by the Warners when he wants to read his favorite comic book. It turns out that the siblings have no idea what a comic book is or how it is made. Dr. S takes the trio through the whole process from the comic's inception to when it's finally published. It's a very informative and funny segment!

The Ice Cream Man Cometh

An ice cream man is overcharging kids for their ice cream outside of the Warner Bros. lot so Yakko, Wakko, and Dot decide to make things right by tormenting this small business owner. Eventually they all go into the ice cream truck which is certainly "bigger on the inside." The trio eventually get the ice cream man arrested. But did the punishment fit the crime? Joey and Nathan discuss it all in this silly story.

Each week, Joey, Nathan and Kelly revisit an episode of Animaniacs in the order in which they first premiered. They discuss their favorite jokes, gags, and discuss all the cultural references they can find. Today the hosts discuss "Hooray for North Hollywood" Part Two. The Warners are successful! They make their own movie but unfortunately for Thaddeus Plotz, it's not with Warner Bros. Plotz gets fired and it's up to the Warners to save him.

L.A. Dot

We are given a preview of the Warner's film and get to see the big musical number! Dot mistakes a bus with LADOT written on it as a salute to her being in Los Angeles and the cutest celebrity in Hollywood. A sample of the original draft of the song is played from Animaniacs in Concert. You can see the full video here or by going to the Animanicast YouTube page.

You Gotta Do the Schmooze

While waiting to see Mr Plotz, the Warners teach Wakko the art of schmoozing people in Hollywood to get what you want. Wakko doesn’t quite get it, which leads to some funny lyrics and explanations.

It's New Years Eve

The Warners save Mr. Plotz from homelessness and celebrate the New Year with a fun song. Kelly and Joey discuss some of the celebrity cameos while Nathan proposes that the entire second act might be some sort of inception scenario!

We’re On Our Way to Go See Mr Plotz.

The Warners have finished writing their screenplay, so they sing a song about Plotz as they take the screenplay to him. During the song almost half the cast of the Animaniacs is shown, and even features a cameo from Steven Spielberg! Unsurprisingly, this makes Kelly very happy.

You Gotta Do the Schmooze

While waiting to see Mr Plotz, the Warners teach Wakko the art of schmoozing people in Hollywood to get what you want. Wakko doesn’t quite get it, which leads to some funny lyrics and explanations.

There's Only One of You

Once in the meeting with Mr Plotz, the Warners are told it would be bad if they sang, which of course leads them to sing.  This song has nothing to do with the episode, but it's so good that the hosts love it anyway. Joey mentions that the premise is very similar to "Singin' in the Rain" where a pitch meeting turns into an unrelated song and dance number.

"Variety Speak" (2nd version)

Once Plotz kicks the Warners out of the office, they decide they need to make the movie themselves.  All they need is some money. Cue the "Variety Speak" song with new lyrics and animation. Once the song is done, the Warners find out there will be a Hollywood gala, which is bound to have people to star in the movie, or even produce it.

And that’s how the episode leaves off!  Join us next week for the exciting conclusion to "Hooray for North Hollywood."

Each week, Joey, Nathan and Kelly revisit an episode of Animaniacs in the order in which they first premiered. They discuss their favorite jokes, gags, and discuss all the cultural references they can find. Today, Joey, Nathan, and Kelly discuss episode 94 of Animaniacs which features the last time Startoons animated for the show and was also the last time Pinky and the Brain appeared on the show.

Magic Time

The Warners visit Las Vegas and see a pair of magicians who look very similar to Siegfried and Roy named Schnitzel and Floyd. These two magicians abuse their animals and make fun of the audience so the Warners step in to knock the two down a peg and end up shipping the two off to Africa so the animals in the jungle can have revenge. The hosts discuss their favorite moments in this very funny cartoon.

The Brain's Apprentice

Pinky takes on the role of Mickey Mouse in this parody of "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" from Fantasia. Instead of walking brooms however small robots run amok and reek havoc throughout the country. Unfortunately just before they help the Brain take over the world, the Brain shuts down the whole operation when he sees Pinky's mess. This cartoon is a musical treat and the hosts discuss their favorite moments in this very funny and often beautiful piece of animation.

Cute First (Ask Questions Later)

Dot and the Warners visit the kingdom where Snow White has taken over for the evil Queen. Once Snow White finds out that Dot is cuter than her, she kidnaps Dot and it's up to Yakko and Wakko to rescue her... sort of. The hosts discuss their favorite moments in this different sort of Animaniacs cartoon. Is it too weird? Is it too dark?

Acquaintances

The Warners become American citizens in Ellis Island and quickly need a home. They decide to join the cast of Friends, or "Acquaintances." The trio run amok and eventually get kicked out. Joey, Nathan and Kelly discuss their favorite moments and their memories of the show "Friends."

Here Comes Attila

The Warners sing about Attila the Hun, what he did, and how he died. There's also lots of rhymes with the word "Attila!"

Boo Wonder

Chicken Boo has disguised himself as the Caped Crusader's sidekick! Will the Caped Crusader find out that he's really a giant chicken? Yes.

Each week, Joey, Nathan and Kelly revisit an episode of Animaniacs in the order in which they first premiered. They discuss their favorite jokes, gags, and discuss all the cultural references they can find. Today, Joey, Kelly and Nathan discuss Animaniacs episode 92 which features the segments "Macadamia Nut" and "Bully for Skippy"

"Macadamia Nut"

Dot and the rest of the Animaniacs sing a parody of the 90's hit song, "Macarena." This catchy song features a lot of characters that haven't been seen for a while on the show. The hosts discuss their favorite moments and then reminisce about 90's music as well as Fraggle Rock, Young Indiana Jones, and how it's impossible to have a wedding reception without annoying songs like "Macarena" being played. They all agree that "Macadamia Nut" should be played at weddings instead.

"Bully for Skippy"

Slappy is told that she must not have violence in her cartoons by a group of government bureaucrats. Unfortunately Skippy is being bullied at school and despite his best efforts, is unable to solve his problem through non-violent means. Luckily Slappy is there to help him when he "can't stands no more." The hosts discuss their favorite moments and pop culture references in this classic Slappy cartoon.

Animaniacs News

Joey summarizes some of the most recent news regarding the Animaniacs reboot. A selection from a recent Rob Paulsen interview is read in which Rob reveals that the new series will premiere in the Fall of 2020 and will consist of 26 episodes. Rob also drops some big hints that he is involved in the new series. Rob also confirmed in a recent "Kids React" video that Randy Rogel is returning and has already written some songs for the show. The hosts share their thoughts on the news and while they are very happy that Steven Spielberg is said to be heavily involved, they still find it confusing that Tom Ruegger was not asked to return to the show.

Back in Style

After quickly discussing a "Message in a Bottle" sequence, the hosts discuss "Back in Style" in which we are shown how the Warners were loaned out to different animation companies over the decades when the Warner Bros. studio closed their animation department. The Warners interact and harass parodies of Yogi Bear, Scooby Doo, Underdog, and Fat Albert. The hosts discuss their favorite gags and their memories of watching some of the cartoons that are parodied.

Bones in the Body

Mr. Skullhead is camping with the Warners in the Old West. Before you know it, the Warners take us on a tour of the skeleton by singing a song. This song by Randy Rogel is very catchy, educational and marks the last major appearance of Mr. Skullhead.
