Each week, Joey, Nathan and Kelly revisit an episode of Animaniacs, Tiny Toon Adventures, Pinky and the Brain, or Freakazoid! Today, your hosts talk about a classic episode of Tiny Toon Adventures that features a parody of Ninja Turtles and lots of tips for anyone that want to be cool!

Mr. Popular's Rules of Cool

Hamton goes to Mr. Popular (a.k.a. Buster Bunny) to ask for some tips on being cool. Buster and Babs try to show Hamton some tips on fashion, music and self confidence. In the end it turns out Hamton doesn't really need their help and turns out to be a natural DJ!

Slugfest

It's a classic Tiny Toons parody of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles featuring the Immature Radioactive Samurai Slugs. Plucky and Hamton decide to be samurais just like their favorite TV show slugs. Unfortunately it results with them being hit on the head repeatedly and then chased around the country by the Iodizer!

The hosts discuss their favorite moments from this episode and their memories of watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as kids. Joey even brings out an old photo album where he saved clippings of Ninja Turtles jokes and drawings that could be found in the packaging of the toys.

Venison Anyone?

Montana Max thinks that hunting deer is cool but a young buck named Vinnie disagrees. Vinnie mocks Montana and makes his hunting trip a disaster. Many of the bits are inspired by Bugs Bunny shorts. The cartoon is pretty harmless but not hilarious. The hosts discuss how cartoons featuring humor with guns would probably not be featured in cartoons these days.

Each week, Joey, Nathan and Kelly revisit an episode of Animaniacs, Tiny Toon Adventures, Pinky and the Brain, or Freakazoid! Today the hosts discuss some Animaniacs reboot news! Rob Paulsen's book, "Voice Lessons" confirmed that the original voice actors of the Warners are coming back for the reboot. Then, in a recent interview with VO Buzz Weekly, the actors revealed some info about the new series. The Animanicast hosts break it down and give their opinions on what it might all mean!

Animaniacs Reboot News

Rob Paulsen, Tress MacNeille, Jess Harnell and Maurice LaMarche are returning next year as the voices of the Warners and Pinky and the Brain! VO Buzz Weekly recently released a great interview with Rob, Tress and Jess where they discussed the excitement of returning to the new series and they even revealed a few tidbits of information on the series. Tress MacNeille mentioned that she thought  the Warners "say as much" as they did in the original. Later she also mentions that the Warners look a little different and that the people that they interact with look very different.

Joey, Nathan and Kelly  have a discussion on what this might mean and why Warner Bros might be putting off any official announcements or trailers. The hosts talk about how the look of a series has a big effect on people's perceptions of  the show and whether or not they'll like the show. From Yoda in The Phantom Menace to the new designs of the Thundercats in Thundercats Roar, the look of the characters has a huge influence on whether or not the show is accepted by the audience. Will the reboot have a drastically new look? We'll just have to wait and see!

Join your hosts Joey, Nathan and Kelly in the "Animanicast!" A podcast dedicated to Animaniacs! Today your hosts discuss a another episode of Pinky and the Brain entitled "A Pinky and the Brain Halloween."

A Pinky and the Brain Halloween

The Brain tries to take over the world at Halloween and is so frustrated that he can't take over the world that he would sell his soul for it! Suddenly Mr. Itch, a proprietor of lost souls, enters and offers the world in exchange for Brain's soul. The Brain isn't impressed and refuses. Pinky however wants to help Brain so gives Mr. Itch his soul so that Brain can rule the world.

The Brain then gets to rule the world but Pinky must go down to Hades. The Brain quickly realizes that he must go down to rescue Pinky! (Who else will show him where the food pellets are?)

This story features the late Garry Marshall as the voice of Mr. Itch and a lot of references that might go right over your head!  The hosts also share some behind the scenes information from Kirk Tingblad and Charles M. Howell IV. How many water towers will this episode get? Listen to find out!

Each week, Joey, Nathan and Kelly revisit an episode of Animaniacs, Tiny Toon Adventures, Pinky and the Brain, or Freakazoid! Today the hosts review "Voice Lessons" by Rob Paulsen and then review issue #17 of the classic Animaniacs comic book!

Voice Lessons

Joey, Nathan and Kelly share their thoughts and impressions of Rob Paulsen's upcoming autobiography, "Voice Lessons." The stories found within the pages of the book not only provide a detailed account of what Rob Paulsen did to become a voice actor, but the stories also give us all some lessons in life. Rob demonstrates the importance of optimism and strength in the face of adversity and his recent battle with cancer. The hosts all thoroughly enjoyed the book and can't wait for its release on October 8th so that they can finally read some redacted information from the last chapter!

You can order Rob's book on Amazon HERE or go to Amazon.Animanicast.com

Beauty or the Beast

Yakko, Wakko and Dot are the guest judges for Miss Small Town America but they quickly wreak havoc and become contestants and even take over the MC's position as well. It's a satiric story that has a mixed message, should we be angry at beauty pageants, the contestants, or the male judges? There's also some questionable violence towards the contestants that has the hosts of the show feeling uncomfortable.

Minervadrama

Newt is back to try and catch Minerva for his master. But Newt's plans always fail. The story itself is very similar to Newt's first appearance on the show however their are some parts which seem to be aimed towards adults. (Minerva wants to be handcuffed?)

No Substitute for Laughter

Slappy is making food while Skippy is at school. At least she thinks he's at school. Actually Skippy is hiding from his mean substitute teacher. Slappy goes to confront the teacher and finds out that she used to teach Slappy as well! Will Slappy and Skippy teach the substitute to have a sense of humor? And will the hosts of the show think this story is funny?

http://traffic.libsyn.com/animanicast/160_Tom_Ruegger_Talks_About_Episodes_16-19.mp3

Each week, Joey, Nathan and Kelly revisit an episode of Animaniacs, Tiny Toon Adventures, Pinky and the Brain, or Freakazoid! Today its part two of their discussion with Tom Ruegger  for Animaniacs' 26th Anniversary. Tom talks about episodes 16-19  with the hosts and shares his thoughts about each one.

Episodes 16-19

Today's episode features a discussion of some fantastic episodes of Animaniacs. Highlights include "Chalkboard Bungle," "Hurray for Slappy," "Roll Over Beethoven," "Pavlov's Mice," and "Meatballs or Consequences."

While the episodes all feature some fantastic writing, some segments have questionable animation. The hosts talk to Tom about segments like "Chalkboard Bungle" which is a hilarious cartoon, but looks pretty bad.

The discussion of episode 20 is postponed until a future date. An episode as monumental as "Hearts of Twilight" deserves to have a deep dive. Hopefully with its writer, Paul Rugg!

A Sketch from Tom

Whenever Tom is on the podcast you will probably hear him sketching while talking. Today's sketch features a familiar megalomaniacal mouse you're probably familiar with.

Each week, Joey, Nathan and Kelly revisit an episode of Animaniacs, Tiny Toon Adventures, Pinky and the Brain, or Freakazoid! Today, your hosts talk about a classic episode of Tiny Toon Adventures that was actually written by 8th graders and features Steven Spielberg as himself!

Buster and Babs Go Hawaiian

This episode has an interesting origin so Joey shares a report from 1991 detailing how a group of 8th grade students got their script approved by Steven Spielberg! Tom Ruegger also shares a little information on how the episode came to be.

The episode itself starts off with Buster and Babs meeting with Spielberg after the episode starts off with Hamton as the star. Spielberg shares a new script that he just got in from some 8th grade writers and Buster and Babs are off to a new story!

The two rabbits fly to Hawaii on an insane flight piloted by Montana Max. As soon as they land in Hawaii they are pick pocketed! Fortunately they have Bugs Bunny's credit card so Buster and Babs set off to a fancy hotel where they eat tons of food, fly in a helicopter, surf and attend a luau all while creating chaos and avoiding catastrophes. Will the two survive this story written by adolescents?

Today Joey and Nathan talk about some exclusive Animaniacs Reboot news and then issue 16 of the Animaniacs comic.   What will Nathan and Joey think about today's comic? Listen and find out!

Animaniacs Reboot News!

Warner Bros. has released almost nothing when it comes to official news about the Animaniacs reboot in 2020. Luckily the Animanicast has received some information from sources involved in the production and there are some interesting things that can be shared. Nathan and Joey review old and new announcements concerning "The Premiere Date," "The New Showrunner." "Writers and Composers," "Animaniacs Characters" and "The Voice Actors."

Wrestlemaniacs

Yakko, Wakko and Dot head down to the convention center to check out their favorite rock band, Kiss! Unfortunately the WWWF is there instead and they're there to wrestle! Will the Warners get the wrestlers to sing? Will Dot be cuter than the wrestler, Pretty Boy? Will this wrestling story ever end? Listen to hear Nathan and Joey wrestle with their emotions as they review this comic!

The Mean, Green Monster Brain Machine

Pinky and the Brain need a laser to transfer funds into a Swiss bank account. Then the two hear about a monster truck rally coming to town which has a giant laser! What's the best way to get their hands on this laser? Why, by fixing up an old truck and entering the rally of course! Will the Brain finally get to take over the world this SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY? Well, no. But listen anyway to find out how he fails!

What do you think?

Each week, Joey, Nathan and Kelly revisit an episode of Animaniacs, Tiny Toon Adventures, Pinky and the Brain, or Freakazoid! Today, your hosts talk about Freakazoid Episode four featuring the segments "And Fanboy is His Name," "The Lawn Gnomes" and some silly Freakazoid segments.

Poseidon Adventure Parody

A giant wave... of hair is approaching the Poseidon cruise ship! It's Freakazoid, and he wants you to watch the show!

And Fanboy is His Name

A fan-favorite segment of Freakazoid, this is our first introduction to Fanboy as he desperately tries to convince Freakazoid to let him be his new sidekick. This segment gives us one of the world’s longest spit takes, and Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill! It also has plenty of other things for the hosts to geek out about.

Lawn Gnomes Chapter IV: Fun in the Sun

This is a controversial segment of Freakazoid, in that you either don’t like it or you REALLY don’t like it.  Or maybe you DO like it. The point is, this is your ONLY chance to hear about this one off segment of the Lawn Gnomes.  There are plenty of interesting things to discover about this segment, including the wide variety of famous voice actors as well as the true identity of the mysterious director Turk Flipnutt… maybe?

Frenching with Freakazoid

In the closing segment, Freakazoid teaches some essential French phrases. Namely, how to ask “Who cut the cheese?”

Each week, Joey, Nathan and Kelly revisit an episode of Animaniacs, Tiny Toon Adventures, Pinky and the Brain, or Freakazoid! Today your hosts discuss episode 51 from the third season of Pinky and the Brain featuring the segments, "Brainie the Poo" and "The Melancholy Brain." How many water towers will this episode receive?

The Megalomaniacal Adventures of Brainie the Poo

In this parody of "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh," Brainie and Pinklet are in search of some honey for their latest plan to replace all the artificial sweeteners in the world with real sugar. They just need to find a way to get into the honey tree which is protected by angry bees. Along the way they run into Christopher (Walken), "Jagger," "Algore" and even a tiny Bea Arthur. This episode has a lot of funny jokes and some pretty obscure references! It also features John Rhys Davies as the narrator!

The Melancholy Brain

Pinky and the Brain want to sew the seeds of discord to take over Denmark and eventually all of Scandinavia! The Brain drives Hamlet mad, convinces the King that Hamlet is trying to take over the throne, and even tries to talk the Queen into becoming suspicious of her husband and Hamlet! It all leads up to a sword fight, a dramatic death scene, and a twist ending! This cartoon also features Carey Elwes, Clive Revill and Olivia Hussey lending their voices to the Shakespearean characters.

Each week, Joey, Nathan and Kelly revisit an episode of Animaniacs, Tiny Toon Adventures, Pinky and the Brain, or Freakazoid! Today, your hosts talk about another episode of Tiny Toon Adventures that focuses on comedy and toilets!

Henny Youngman Day

The legendary comedian Henny Youngman voices a giant chicken named "Henny Youngman" who substitute teaches for Daffy Duck. Youngman tells jokes to the students who quickly tire of his jokes. What will the hosts of the Animanicast think of this classic comedy?

Stand-Up and Deliver

Babs is going to perform her comedy at the local comedy club! Unfortunately Robin Killems opens for her and she is completely intimidated and can't compete with his act. Luckily Robin rescues Babs and her act is a success. The hosts discuss the connections Sherri Stoner and Maurice LaMarche have with comedy clubs and how this cartoon is a nice salute to Robin Williams.

The Potty Years

Plucky remembers when he was potty trained. Baby Plucky loved to flush the potty and quickly tries to flush everything he can see! This hilarious and cute story is actually based upon a real event in Tom Ruegger's life. His youngest son, Cody, loved flushing the toilet as well and ended up flooding their hotel room! A clip from episode 68a is played when the Animanicast interviewed Nathan, Luke, and Cody Ruegger about their experiences working on Animaniacs. You can listen to it here.

Lame Joke

Buster has a joke that he loves to tell. Unfortunately his friends hate it. The lame joke is personified as a lame clown who collapses and is taken to the hospital. Will Buster be able to save his lame joke and make anybody laugh?

Water Tower Rating

What will the hosts think of this episode and "The Potty Years?"

Each week, Joey, Nathan and Kelly revisit an episode of Animaniacs, Tiny Toon Adventures, Pinky and the Brain, or Freakazoid! Today Joey and Nathan talk about the comic series of Animaniacs issue 15 which features many of the second bananas in Animaniacs. First, the Warners get plastic surgery in "A Change of Face," then Rita and Runt are chased around by "Mace Ventura," the Goodfeathers try to get the Godpigeon a "Cannoli or Nothing," and finally Minerva shows everyone that she is a "Shopping Beauty." What will Nathan and Joey think about today's comic? Listen and find out!

A Change of Face

The Warners give their secret away for how they stay so young. They have plastic surgery! Unfortunately Wakko takes it too far and gets "A Change of Face" when he comes out looking like Michael Jackson!

Mace Ventura: Pet Hunter

Rita and Runt are back! But unfortunately Rita can't sing because it's a comic book. To make things worse they're being chased around by Mace Ventura who wants to kill and stuff the two for an old woman's collection!

Cannoli or Nothing

The Goodfeathers need to get the last cannoli to the Godpigeon. Unfortunately Frank Pigeonatra also wants it! The Goodfeathers have to get the cannoli without offending their favorite singer!

Shopping Beauty

Minerva is cursed. She has a credit account with 5 months, zero percent interest on her purchases. She goes throughout the mall looking for a prince to save her. Unfortunately none of the "princes" she meets are up to her liking.

What do you think?

Each week, Joey, Nathan and Kelly revisit an episode of Animaniacs, Tiny Toon Adventures, Pinky and the Brain, or Freakazoid! Today, your hosts talk about Freakazoid Episode three featuring the segments "Mo-ron," "The Sewer Rescue" and "Legends Who Lunch."

Mo-ron

Today's Freakazoid has several segments featuring an overweight alien named Mo-ron who has an important message for all mankind. Unfortunately, Mo-ron can't seem to remember his message. Mo-ron does remember his name however and  proudly recites, "I am Mo-ron!" continually instead of sharing any mysteries of the universe.

Joey and Nathan enjoyed these Mo-ron segments quite a bit however Kelly... didn't.

The Sewer Rescue

Lord Bravery goes out to pick up some groceries for his wife and mother-in-law. On the way there, he hears a man stuck in the sewer. Lord Bravery sees this as his big opportunity to rescue someone even though the man stuck would rather have Superman or the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles help out. This segment is very reminiscent to Monty Python and even features a tune written by Gilbert and Sullivan. It's no wonder that it was written by Paul Rugg.

The Big Question

Another alien lands at the White House with an important question, "What's the name of Barbie's sister?" Luckily Freakazoid is there to answer! Unfortunately, Mo-ron is there as well.

Legends Who Lunch

In this short segment, obscure, elderly super heroes get together to have lunch at a deli. The group talks all about their experiences fighting off different fog-based villains.

Finale

Mo-ron comes back one more time to let us know what the message is! There's a huge comet hurtling towards Earth! Freakazoid saves Mo-ron's life. But can Mo-ron be killed? The hosts discuss his indestructible nature and the eventual return of Mo-ron... sort of.

Join your hosts Joey, Nathan and Kelly in the "Animanicast!" A podcast dedicated to Animaniacs! Today your hosts discuss the third episode of Pinky and the Brain featuring the segments, "Tokyo Grows," "That Smarts" and the song "Brainstem."

Tokyo Grows

The Brain realizes that if he and Pinky make themselves as large as the mythical creature Gollyzilla, they could then create a fake fight for all of Tokyo to see. Then the Brain could become ruler! Unfortunately the real Gollyzilla emerges from the depths and puts an end to that plan. This cartoon ends up becoming the biggest cartoon Pinky and the Brain ever starred in when even Tokyo Grows!

That Smarts

The Brain calculates that the reason they never succeed at taking over the world is because Pinky is an idiot. He straps Pinky into his latest invention and before you can say, "Narf!" Pinky is a genius! Unfortunately he's even smarter than the Brain and he's able to find all the flaws in Brain's plans. The Brain realizes that one of the two must be stupid in order for then to be successful, but who should be the dumb one?

Brain Stem

The Brain teaches the kids at home all about the parts of the Brain. Except for the "Brain Stem" which Pinky takes care of with lots of enthusiasm.

Each week, Joey, Nathan and Kelly revisit an episode of Animaniacs, Tiny Toon Adventures, Pinky and the Brain, or Freakazoid! Today, your hosts talk about another of Kelly's favorite episodes of Tiny Toon Adventures entitled "Tiny Toons Music Television."  The three talk about each segment in today's episode and then give the episode a water tower rating!

Tiny Toons Music Television

Throughout today's episode Buster and Babs introduce each segment as the resident VJs of Tiny Toons Music Television. They show us a wall of phones, we meet Julie Bruin, and we get to see the one and only Fuddonna!

Istanbul (Not Constantinople)

In the first segment of Tiny Toons Music Television, Plucky is sent on a mission to rescue a jade duck statue that looks a lot like Plucky himself. He sets out with Hamton to steal the statue back from Montana Max and his goons only to be chased back through the desert on camels. Unfortunately Plucky breaks the statue as soon as he gets his reward (or his reward gets him.)

This video is sung by the band They Might Be Giants but they weren't the first ones to sing it! The hosts discuss their favorite moments in the cartoon and in this song.

Particle Man

Plucky is Particle Man and he is in the wresting ring going up against Triangle Man, Universe Man and even the Crusher when he changes outfits from Particle Man to Person Man. Plucky tries to face off against the three foes but he doesn't stand a chance.

This second song from They Might Be Giants features some great action and animation. The hosts reflect on this cartoon and on their shared love of They Might Be Giants.

Respect

Babs is singing to Aretha Franklin's classic hit "Respect" in a library, a court room, a funeral and an operating room! The ones she bothers however get back at her so that they can be respected.

This cartoon has lots of writers and animators in the background! Plus a cameo from Batman (sorta.)

Money (That's What I Want)

Montana Max sings about money and how much he wants it. In the end though, he has nothing and Joey actually feels sorry for him. This video has lots of energy, great animation and Ralph the Guard?

Top Secret Apprentice

In this instrumental salute to "The Sorcerer's Apprentice," Bugs Bunny is working on the new computer animation wing of ACME Looniversity. While he's away, Buster jumps onto the controls but quickly falls asleep. Buster dreams of flying through space, swimming through the ocean, flying on flies and going into the past to the age of dinosaurs. Buster's imagination almost gets out of hand!

This instrumental segment of Tiny Toons Music Television features impressive animation, great action and an awkward ending that the hosts don't really like.

Elmyra has a new neighbor named Rhoda Queen and Elmyra couldn't be happier to have a new friend! Unfortunately, "Queenie" forces Elmyra to give her things in order to be her friend. Phone Call from the 405

It's one of Kelly's favorite segments! Steven Spielberg calls Buster and Babs to tell them what they should improve in today's episode. Steven suggests new camera angles, better gags, and more shadows! This segment was actually based upon a real conversation Tom Ruegger had with Steven Spielberg. A clip from episode 63a of our show is shared so that we can hear Tom share the story once again.
